Great job last night

I cannot tell you guys how awesome last nights song service was.
I loved Everyday a little slower and with Anthony leading from the front.
I loved As the Deer as Khayla was right were missing some of those old songs we love.
I loved as all of you were worshipping.

I told Anthony that it was like a Cafe' Service where it was more intimate, personal, more about the church.

Anthony was Awesome while I was gone and I look forward to his continued leadership don't you?
But we have some new songs to practice on Tuesday Night but we are just going to break into them.
I don't want to punish my musicians because I have been gone so we are going to go over them, get into them, talk about them, and play with them.
It will be a great time of fellowship and learning.
Can't wait to be with you guys again!

Ten things you can do as a Worship Leader to support and show respect to your Audio Tech:

1. Have the worship team be on time for rehearsal/sound check. Don't waste the tech's time. This usually requires the instruments to be "strapped up" in advance of the scheduled start of rehearsal or sound check.
2. Communicate your plan and requirements with your Audio Tech as far in advance as possible. They usually need some lead time to set up what you want and to deliver it with the quality that you expect.
3. Try not to throw impromptu requests at your Audio Tech right before rehearsal or sound check, and be patient and understanding if it takes awhile to accommodate them.
4. Don't speak negatively of or sarcastically to techs through the mic or in front of the band. Unamplified comments can hurt. Amplified comments hurt and embarrass.
5. Don't negatively comment on the house mix from the stage where you can't accurately hear it. Make sure you've heard the mix from the seats before you comment.
6. If your Audio Tech makes a request, be respectful and remember they have the best possible outcome at heart. They're really not trying to complicate your life. If the request is something that can be accommodated, it will usually result in a better sounding mix.
7. If you have questions or concerns about something that can wait until a private discussion can be had, please wait. It's important that techs can trust your intentions and it's hard to do if they feel embarrassed.
8. Remember Audio Techs do everything they can to make the mix great. They cannot make musicians play better or vocalists sing on pitch. They can only take what they are given and blend it together.
9. Include your techs in pre-rehearsal and pre-service prayer, as well as worship team get-togethers. Make them feel like part of the worship team because they are a critical piece of it.
10. Pray for your techs and remember that just like every artist, they have insecurities and are putting their art out there for everyone to judge. Take every opportunity you can to be supportive and encouraging.

10 Ten things you can do as an Audio Tech to support and show respect to your Worship Leader:

1. Be on time for rehearsal and sound check. Don't waste the worship team's time. This usually means mics in place and checked in advance of the scheduled start of rehearsal or sound check.
2. Communicate questions or needs with your Worship Leader as early as possible so there is still time to accommodate and adapt.
3. Have everything needed set up and turned on before the band gets there. There is much to accomplish in a short time. Use rehearsal time to try different eq's and mixes in the house or your headphones, but not in the monitors.
4. Do not yell to or at the Worship Leader from the sound booth. Go up and talk to him.
5. Ask your Worship Leader how he wants the mix to sound from a musical perspective. Then, try to accomplish that. More lead? More Snare? Less background vocal?
6. If the Worship Leader asks you to do something, do it as soon as possible and with a smile.
7. If you have to question the Worship Leader about something, or need to make a suggestion, do it privately and not in front of the worship team. It's important that the leader can trust your intentions and it's hard if they feel embarrassed.
8. Remember the Worship Leader has many things to consider and is looking out for the good of the whole congregation. Remember there are no sides, everyone is in this together.
9. Own up to your mistakes.
10. Pray for your Worship Leader and remember that just like every artist, they have insecurities and are putting their art out there for everyone to judge. Take every opportunity you can to be supportive and encouraging.

Last night was awesome.
Not just that you were all prepared and sung out, but that you were there to help the teens.
I loved seeing your excitement for them, your encouragement to them, and your love of them.
From the Sound Board to our little Sarah it was a fun night.

There is no other way to describe my heart today, but as heavy with hope.
I feel this way because I have no other choice.

Things I learned from Sunday

#1 Holiness is the Most important thing to having True Worship. Other wise its just a group of unclean people playing and singing. (Karaoke)

#2 Confidence in the Song is next. Anthony and I have to do a better job of Preparing you to sing. Its not your ability but our lack of teaching that hinders you from singing out. This lack of Confidence causes you all to be tight on the platform and we feel it.

#3 Love of the Church is Crucial. It is clearly evident who loves the church and loves themselves. They sacrifice for Practices, they willingly give their time, they put others before themselves or they don't. If the worship team does not sacrifice, how can we sing about His in Truth.

When these things are a part of our Worship, God comes down, when not, He stays away.

What Sunday Taught Me................

I learned a lot from our worship on Sunday and I am not sure if its encouraging or discouraging, so you tell me.

#1 I learned that we need order, but we need freedom.
During the second service it was almost as if the first three songs were enough.
Hallelujah, You Said, and You are my All in All moved me to the point of worship where Jesus thank you was Great, it was more than was needed.

#2 I learned that instruments are Extremely Important to the structure of the song, but that they too provide a form of bondage.
What I mean is that even though Crystal did an awesome job as did Ann, you guys sang the song and let the instruments accompany you. It was perfect because you knew what to sing, when to come in, and when to stop.
The instruments become a form of bondage when you follow them instead of working with them. This Sunday you worked with them. AWESOME!

#3 I learned that when People don't worry about People, People Notice.
Everyone worships God in their own way. Not everyone worships the Same. Some stand straight, some move, some close their eyes, some smile, some are more somber.
Watching you all this weekend it seemed as if while working the song together, you were worshipping God as individuals.
And people are noticing. One of our younger girls commented on how they love to see the freedom on the platform and its teaching her how to worship.

#4 I learned that even I have issues.
I worry too much about people and not enough about God.
While I love the songs, the styles of worship, and the freedoms, I still worry about how people perceive us when I should be concerned with how God perceives us.
Pray for Me

#5 I learned that I miss Anthony.
I miss His Energy, I miss His Ideas, I miss His Enthusiasm.
Its Great Having Him Back.

Couple other things:
No Practice Tonight for Singers as Sundays Songs are easy and we will practice Thursday night after service.

How many of you think that we might want to shorten up the Walk out Song by one chorus at the end? Go into Accapella one Chorus earlier?
Just a thought as it seems as if that last Chorus with Guitar is too much and takes us from worship? Let me know.

Some Questions Our Worship Team needs to Answer Before Sunday

#1 Do I trust the Leadership of this Church? (if the answer is no you will have problems because you will not be able to obey the word of God in regards to Hebrews 13:17)

#2 Do I find myself attacking people who I perceive are better than me? (If so your insecurity issues will hinder your worship and our strength)

#3 Is there anything in my life that if if became public would disqualify me in doing this ministry? (When serving God publicly, your life is not Yours as your sharing it with us)

#4 Do you value your calling to serve God and His church over your gift? (If yes you will do anything at any time to move His church forward. If your answer is no, than you will think that you are entitled to serve believing that your needs and wants are more important than the call of the church to reach the lost)

#5 Would I attend this church if I was not singing? (If the answer is no, do this church a favor and get off the platform. You cannot serve a church that you do not love, Period!)

#6 Are you always telling people how tired you are, hard your day was, how difficult it is to show up to practice? (If so, Shut UP! Ministry is difficult. (Eph 6:12) Maybe you might want to get more sleep, enjoy your day off to rest and relax so that your ready to serve with Vigor! And if that's not enough, do something else in the church that does not require so much work for you.) (Whining Wears Me Out)

#7 Am I honestly giving God, the Church, and the community in which I serve my best effort? (2 Timothy 2:15)

What a turn around.
You went from "beat down" to "up beat" in 2 hours.
It was great to see you all having fun while working hard.

So this morning I ask this of you.

Pray for Thursday nights worship service.
Its opportunity to Bring God down to us is shorter which means it needs MORE prayer and MORE personal Preparation to bring about MORE Power.
